Alfa Beer

Alfa Brouwerij is the only Dutch brewery to extract its brewing water from a spring certified by the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (22 March 1995). This means that the water meets the stringent conditions set in the Natural Mineral and Spring Water Decree. Acknowledgment is preceded by comprehensive geological, bacteriological and physicochemical research. The water must meet a number of stringent requirements:

1. Have a healthy composition;
2. Originate from an underground water resource;
3. Have natural purity;
4. Be closed off from threats from above (e.g. surface or rainwater!)

Once the spring has been certified, it is re-inspected every six months, by express order of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, in order to retain certification.

The brewing process and beer composition have hardly changed since 1870. Low-volume brews are still brewed fully manually. It is the individual brewer, not the computer, that determines the quality. Although automatic readings are taken at many stages of the brewing process, the composition and quality are also checked by our brewers personally during each single step. To this end, a thick manual has been developed, accurately describing the actions to be taken by each employee during each stage of the production.

Ballantine's

Stolichnaya

While others have tried to imitate Russian vodka production techniques, they have never totally succeeded. There are three key elements that separate Stoli from its imitators.

- First, Stoli is distilled from winter wheat, which is the best tasting wheat, not from corn or other grains. Produced in Russia's oldest distillery, its is considered the classic Russian vodka.

- Second, virtually all domestic vodka producers use processed water to reduce the product to its proper proof, while the makers of Stoli use the purest, softest glacial waters.

- Last Stoli is carefully filtered through both quartz and activated charcoal, then through quartz again.
